Saturday, June 05, 2010
I thought i will make some Chicken Kurma today. I was like craving to have it with dosas (mmmmm!!!!). So being a weekend and with all the help i could get from my husband i made it. It turned to be so tasty :)

You will need :

Chicken - 1lb (Cut boneless or with bone)
Coconut Milk - about 1/2 a cup
Curd - about 1/2 a cup
Onion - 1 large sliced
Green Chillies  - about 10-12 sliced
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1tbsp
Coriander Powder - 1-2 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1-2Tsp
Mustard seeds - 1tsp
Cumin seeds - 2tsp
Whole Gram Masala spices(like cloves, cinnamon, cardomom)
Salt
Red Chilli Powder(Optional)
Oil

Here is how you do it :

1. Heat oil in a non stick vessel and add the whole garam masala spices.
2. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and green chillies.
3. Add the onions and fry till slight golden brown.
4. Add the ginger garlic paste and fry for about a minute or so.
5. Add the coconut milk, curd, salt, cumin powder, coriander powder red chilli powder and mix well.
5. Add the chicken , mix well and cook on a low flame with lid on till the chicken is cooked.(add some water if required).
6. Garnish with chopped cilantro.

The gravy shown in the pic is dark in color due to the red chilli powder. You can replace red chilli powder for pepper powder and green chillies.

So here you go :)

This goes well with rice, brown rice, chapathis, naans, dosas, biriyani etc etc :)

Enjoy :)
