Cabbage Coconut Curry

Well this is one of my favorites since there s coconut in it :)..
Its my first time making this one...Got the recipe from my mom... and it s so easy to make..
So here you go..

You will need :

Cabbage - 1/2 Shredded
Coconut - 1/2 cup shredded
Green Chillies - 4-5 Large ones (u can chop them or even slice them)
Ginger - about 1 inch piece finely chopped
Garlic - 4 cloves finely chopped ---> This one is optional but i just love the flavor and smell garlic gives :)
Channa Dal - about 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - about 1 tsp
Urad dal - About 1 tbsp
Curry Leaves
Dry red chillies - about 2 or 3 --->optional
Turmeric Powder
Salt
Oil
Cilantro

You will have to do this

1. To boiling water(about 3 cups) add shredded cabbage, turmeric powder and half of the chopped ginger and boil it with the lid on till all the water goes off.(It will take some time..so be patient :))
2. Heat oil in a skillet or in a wok.Add mustard seeds and let them splutter (gives good flavor)
3. Add Dry red chillies, channa dal, urad dal, curry leaves, green chillies, ginger and garlic.(see that u don't burn them !!)
4. Add the boiled cabbage and salt and stir fry for about 10-15 min on a medium flame.
5. Now add the shredded coconut and fry for another 5-10 min.
6. Garnish with cilantro.

And there you go

This one goes well as a side for rasam rice or you can have it just plain rice.It tastes good with rotis as well :)
Cheers!!!
