Chicken Kurma

I thought i will make some Chicken Kurma today. I was like craving to have it with dosas (mmmmm!!!!). So being a weekend and with all the help i could get from my husband i made it. It turned to be so tasty :)

You will need :

Chicken - 1lb (Cut boneless or with bone)
Coconut Milk - about 1/2 a cup
Curd - about 1/2 a cup
Onion - 1 large sliced
Green Chillies  - about 10-12 sliced
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1tbsp
Coriander Powder - 1-2 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1-2Tsp
Mustard seeds - 1tsp
Cumin seeds - 2tsp
Whole Gram Masala spices(like cloves, cinnamon, cardomom)
Salt
Red Chilli Powder(Optional)
Oil

Here is how you do it :

1. Heat oil in a non stick vessel and add the whole garam masala spices.
2. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and green chillies.
3. Add the onions and fry till slight golden brown.
4. Add the ginger garlic paste and fry for about a minute or so.
5. Add the coconut milk, curd, salt, cumin powder, coriander powder red chilli powder and mix well.
5. Add the chicken , mix well and cook on a low flame with lid on till the chicken is cooked.(add some water if required).
6. Garnish with chopped cilantro.

The gravy shown in the pic is dark in color due to the red chilli powder.You can replace red chilli powder for pepper powder and green chillies.

So here you go :)


This goes well with rice, brown rice, chapathis, naans, dosas, biriyani etc etc :)

Dark Chicken

This recipe, as I remember was the first one i learnt to cook.Thanks to my aunt for teaching me this :) I named it Dark Chicken :)
It's simple and tasty.. You should definitely try it..

You will need :

Chicken - 2lbs/1 kg Boneless or with bone cut into eatable sizes
Ginger garlic paste - about 1tbps
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Cumin powder - 2tsp
Chilli powder
Salt
Curd - about 1/4th -1/2 cup
Lemon - one med squeezed
Oil

For Garnish :

Onions 1 big cut into rings
Green chillies - about 6-7 chopped or sliced
Garlic cloves - about 5-6 finely chopped
Curry Leaves - optional
Cilantro
Oil

This is how you do it :

1. Mix all the above ingredients and marinate for atleast an hour.
2. In a kadai, heat oil and fry the marinated peices on a medium flame till the chicken is cooked.(keep stirring in between)
3. In a seperate pan heat oil and saute the garnish ingredients.( It ll be good if the onions are crisp)
4. Add this to the chicken and mix well.


So here you go :)


This goes well as a side for Rasam/Sambar rice. It also tastes good white plain white rice/Jeera rice.
