Well i was browsing stuff over the internet. This is a Sanjeev kapoor recipe and i added my version of the caramel sauce to it and contradicted it with vanilla ice cream and it turned out to be great!! And since i love dates i couldn't stop myself from making it. It was a simple one indeed !!
You will need :

Dates - 1cup seedless and chopped
Baking soda - 1/2tsp
Water - 1cup boiling
Butter - 6-7 tbsp (softened)
Brown sugar - 1/2cup
Vanilla essence/extract - 1tsp
Eggs - 2
All Purpose flour/Maida - 1cup
For the Caramel Sauce :
Butter - 1/2 cup or 8 tbsp
Whipping cream - 1/4 cup
Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup
Vanilla essence/extract - 1/2 tsp

This is how i made the cake :
1. Preheat oven to 180C/350F
2. Take dates in a bowl and add the baking soda and a cup of boiling water and set aside for the dates to soften.
3. In another bowl blend together butter and brown sugar till soft and fluffy.
4. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
5. Add the eggs and blend till it mixes real well.
6. Add in the flour and the dates along with the water and blend well.
7. Pour the batter into a baking pan and bake for 50-60 min / till the skewer comes out clean.
8. Cool and cut into pieces.
And the caramel Sauce :
Boil together the butter, sugar, cream and vanilla extract.
Simmer and cook for 3 minutes
To Serve :
Boil together the butter, sugar, cream and vanilla extract.
Simmer and cook for 3 minutes
To Serve :
Warm the cake and drizzle some sauce over it and serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
And voila!!!
